The news is full of anti-racist messages. Many organizations have issued statements of support for those protesting the death of George Floyd. In the sports world teams have said over and over again that racism will not be tolerated.
For groups to say that they are not racist is easy. The question that comes up though, is, if the group is not racist why is the board still all one race? How many boards are all older Caucasian males? Board diversity is not just about race, we also need to consider gender, and skills as well as age groups and geographic location.
For your group -- do the values that you have on your website and on your strategic plan actually translate into the day-to-day operations of your organization? Could it be that the group is talking the talk but not walking the walk?
